The one thing that I remember most of all was his workshop. It was so organised, the tools and their locations were always impeccable, I do a bit of woodwork myself and I was a bit envious when he showed me how to use his lathe because I went on a course for turning but never owned a lathe. I think he was making pepper mills and they were his speciality. The one time Jeanette and I particularly remember was with him was when he took us to a birthday celebration on HMS Belfast which is now moored on the Thames, Colin took us around the boat showing us where he was on the top as a lookout when they were convoying in the war, it was clearly a very real memory for him because and he showed us all around the boat where ordinary visitors were not allowed. I remember it all. Peter
